About The Role

As the primary contact for bank customers, you, the Personal Banker (PB) are responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships through providing a consistent level of exceptional service. As a Personal Banker, you are a contributing member of a team. You will proactively work to develop and maintain long-standing customer relationships. You will greet, listen, engage, and actively profile to ascertain your customer's needs and present sound and mutually beneficial financial solutions. You will maintain high quality personal performance standards and actively request support and training as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT

- Primarily responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships using a defined process (PB Standard of Care).

- Play an integral role in bank growth by meeting customer's needs while maintaining profitability and proactively finding opportunities to enhance customer relationships.

- Responsible for identifying customer needs through active listening and profiling and fulfilling their needs with appropriate products and services.

- Act promptly on customer requests, following through on commitments and obligations. Ask follow-up questions to determine if customer needs and expectations have been addressed.

- Maintain proficient knowledge of Valley Bank products and services to effectively present the appropriate solutions to the customer.

- As a representative of Valley Bank you will conduct yourself at all times in a positive and professional manner while maintaining a professional appearance and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

COMPLIANCE & SECURITY

- Take responsibility for complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control as well as following company policies and procedures.

- Accountable for maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the job which include but are not limited to documentation, preparation and maintenance of loans, accounts and computer applications.

- Responsible for keeping all information related to customers, co-workers and the bank private and confidential. Assure that any private information is accessed only as it pertains to the performance of your position, being aware of others who can hear your conversations or view private information.

- Proactively protect Valley Bank and its customers from counterfeit and fraudulent activity by staying current on fraud warnings and initiating discussion with customers regarding specific transactions to prevent potential loss to customers and Valley Bank.

- Complete all required annual compliance training and continuing education to stay current with bank policy, regulations and licensing requirements by the applicable due date.

- Responsible to stay aware of and adhere to the banks security policy. Notify management of any situation that may cause a security risk.

COMMUNITY SERVICE/PERSONAL EXCELLENCE

- As a Personal Banker you are responsible for pursuing personal excellence by setting personal goals, identifying opportunities to grow and acting on those opportunities to learn.

- Identify personal interests and opportunities to make a positive difference for someone else. Give back to the community by participating in at least six community service activities each year.


About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years customer service experience.
  • 1 year of banking experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

-Must have the ability to work under pressure.

-Must be able to work quickly and accurately.

-Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

-Some knowledge of keyboarding or computer.

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.

-Ability to use listed tools and equipment.

-Working knowledge of New Accounts operations.

-Basic understanding of computer systems.

-Ability to maintain professionalism with disgruntled customers.

-Working knowledge of lending practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise. Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as a driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in an office environment with sitting and standing involved that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
